Barlborough Parish Council
The village of Barlborough was formerly known as ‘Barleburg’ meaning ‘boar’ or ‘barley clearing’ is one of the most historic villages in North East Derbyshire. Its documented history goes back over a thousand years and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The village has developed around farming and mining, but has retained its charm with many fine buildings dating back to the 16th century. Barlborough is situated off the M1 junction 30 and is within easy travelling distance of Sheffield, Chesterfield and Worksop.
