Freedom of Information Act
Freedom of Information Act
Freedom of Information is a legal responsibility of each local authority. It is part of a wider group of national policies which have the aim of modernising government and showing people how it is working on their behalf. From January 2005 people have a right to know what decisions are taken on their behalf, and how services are run. They can ask to see not only the printed leaflets and other publications which describe the services, but also the background files and records, except where there are statutory exemptions – reasons for not permitting access. Anyone wishing to have access to this information will need to make a request in writing to the Parish Clerk. Copies of these papers will be available at a prescribed cost.
